As many of you know, Lexi’s good friend Angela was due on the exact same day as Lexi was. Unfortunatley Angela gave birth at 26 weeks. Thankfully Her little angel, Amelia (lia) who was born at 1lb 14 oz, survived, and in fact thrived. This last weekend we went to Lia’s 1 year birthday party. Here are the pics

Cora got to go to the big island of Hawaii. Actually, we all got to go. Thanks to the extreme kindness of my parents we occasionaly get to crash at their condo on the big island.
The trip was great, and cora got to meet turtles, and go on hikes, drink salt water, and eat sand. (both of the latter without parental permission)
A very toned down trip, as we were attached to Cora most days, but Nauni and Papa watched cora a few times, so Lex and i could get out on our own. (we went sailing and to our favorite beach Makalawena. )

Well its early fall, and lots has happened. Why don’t you know about it you ask? Well because I did not post anything! arg. Basically after the reunion life continued on. Cora began walking with help at about 7 months, and showed no interest in crawling. S he began cruising, (pulling herself up on furniture, and walking along couches, coffee tables, etc) at about 81/2 months. Still no interest in crawling. She has been quite happy though, and if she would only sleep through the night, we may be happy too!

Aloha!
On the weekend of august 8, 2009 we had a bunch of people in from my semester abroad for our 10 year reunion. Unfortunatley many people could not attend, so this year was a bit quieter, and more relaxing. Cora got to meet Makenna kate, who was born only a few days after she was.
We had a luau theme, and had alot of fun.

The kabobs were mostly beef and chicken, but we did introduce the group to a hawaiian tradition- Spam!
After a few turned up noses, it actually became a universal favorite.. . stuff has a bad rap.

Like any good luau we had tiki torches, and of course tiki’s! The one above is made from ice, which is plentiful on the beaches of hawaii as you all know… just ask the guy serving mai tai’s!

the kiddos were great together. Cora was a bit fussy, but calmed down when set to play.

Cora needed some alone time to get past the fussyness

There.. all better can i come play now? awwwww…

Tim and Makenna, hanging out waiting for the pool to open. (below) ahhh… nothing like a beach and palm tree…. yep this is nothing like a beach and palm tree.

Cora has also started solids, (if you can call the mushy ceral we feed her solid). She has also taken a keen interest in books. she may be getting the food and reading thing mixed up. who knows.

What?

Can i eat this too?

i am just supposed to look at it? BOOORING!

This last weekend we were invited by our good friends Kevin and Hailey to join them in Steamboat Springs for some balloon and hiking fun. This weekend was the 29th annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo. there were 32 balloons, but i didn’t see any lassoing going on. Even without the barrel racing and so on, the balloons were a lot of fun.
We got to see the balloons inflate, take a dip in the water, and generally float around. Cora met a frog, and Jen had to show her how a princess adressess a frog.
Kevin and i hit a hike in the Mt. Zirkel wilderness. A decent hike, never seen so many glacier lilies, but apparently middle July is still mud season. The 14 miles were much harder than they should have been, what with the mud and snow on the trail. We almost lost Kevin to the lightning sand, and me to plain old lightning. We mad it back to the car as a big storm hit. Plus THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of mosquitoes blessed us by choosing us as a favorable food source. Yay! pics will come later, when i can snag em from Kevin.
Cora got into the spirit and started trying water delivery systems. She cannot work the nalgene quite yet, but loves the camelback!

Cora is growing like a weed. Recently we have ogtten her some new toys, and she has found some of her own. We got her an infant seat, and a bouncy. The seat was absolutley necessary, while cora can sit up should she choose to, she tends to “lean” when she wants to see something and “plop” face first she goes.
She has also discovered her body parts, from an ear, to her toes and even her lip, which we hardly ever see any more.
Nauni introduced her to the wonders of tupperware we have a new game. -SPACE BABY AND THE PIE PLATE FROM NOISY LAND- when no tupperware is available, her toes do just as well, or her lip.
Cora does not seem as interested in her bouncy seat, but it sure is comfortable, and the dog appears to love the carseat. Great.

On fathers day, my mother gave her father a ride on a B-25. Grandad flew as a navigator on a B-24, which is quite a bit bigger, but well. there were no B-24′s to fly in, so a B-25 it was. We arrived at the airport to see him off, he was like an excited schoolboy, and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Overall a great day.
- The turiano clan
- Cora meets Lia
Later that day, Lexi and i had the opportunity to visit some friends. Angela and Aldern Turiano. Angela and Lexi grew up together, and were the best of friends. When we found out we were pregnant we called them only to find that they were pregnant, and were due on exactly the same day! Unfortunately, we got a call last fall (about 24 weeks into pregnancy) that Angela had fallen and her water had broken. Two weeks later, Amelia (lia) was born, under two pounds in weight. We visited in the hospital, but had not had the Chance to see them since Cora was born.
We were treated to a traditional Filipino dinner of adobo. Went on a walk, and let the girls get to know each other. Lia is doing amazingly well.. She weighs nearly what cora does, has eyelashes that are literally an inch long, and an adorable squeak for a laugh, with a great smile. A great end, to a great day.

The last few weeks have been a lot of fun around the Lamberton household. Cora has gone swimming, and is chatting up a storm. she is gaining more personality every day, and is a delight. For fathers day we went out to Lexie’s grandmothers farm, and cora got to play with aunt nikki and uncle jay. Later we went to my parents house and she got to play with papa and uncle rory.
Jay got Cora to Laugh at Great Grandma Marge’s farm.
Cora Shows her dexterity by kicking and grabbing the camera
Before bed Cora just chatting away. Lots of fun, until about 2 am.

Every once in a while a void opens somewhere inside my daughter which connects her to a some parralell dimension in which nothing but poop exists. I know when this happens because it comes flowing out in monsterous proportions. In the picture below, cora had soiled her car seat, and we had to take the infant insert out. she does not seem to mind.
